Travel guide Caspian Sea, Iran

Caspian Sea

The Caspian Sea coast has a different vibe from the rest of Iran. Here it rains, it's green, there are forests, tea plantations and even beaches. All very rare in the rest of the country. Hence this is the most popular region for Iranians to spend their holidays.

And you might enjoy it well. Don't expect fancy beach-resorts, beautiful beaches and all you need for a relaxing holiday. But there are many sights. From the tea-plantations near Lahijan, to the beautiful mountain village of Masuleh and the castle ruines of Rudkhan, from the rough and remote Talesh mountains to the port of Anzali.

The Caspian Sea area is also home to lush green forests, which are perfect for hiking and exploring. The forests are particularly stunning in the autumn months, when the leaves turn golden and red, creating a picturesque landscape.

In addition to its beaches and forests, the Caspian Sea area is home to a range of natural attractions, including the Golestan National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.

The Caspian Sea area is also rich in culture, with traditional villages and towns that offer a glimpse into the region's history and way of life. Some of the most popular cultural attractions in the region include the Masuleh village, with its unique architecture and stunning views, and the historical city of Rasht, which is famous for its delicious cuisine.
